FAQS

That stands for "Frequently Asked Questions"

WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A THERAPIST AND A LIFE COACH?

That's an excellent question, and one that I spent some time researching myself.  A clinical psychologist or a counselor (sometimes abbreviated as LCP, LCSW, LPCC, LMHC etc) is interested in your past, what you've been through, and how to adjust your life accordingly.  Therapists are great for people who have clinical depression, have suffered trauma or abuse, addiction, or any other major mental health condition.  They are the "expert" and usually focuses on the problems you may or may not have.

As a life coach, I'm more solution oriented and don't claim to be an "expert" - just another human being with a boatload of life experience, and I'm on your team.  I want to work on goals with you, write them out, and celebrate with you when you crush them.

ARE YOU CERTIFIED OR LICENSED?

Yep.  Certified in Positive Psychology with the WholeBeing Institute based out of Maryland.  Positive Psychology focuses on the science of human flourishing - determining your GOOD traits, magnifying them, living in the moment, and embracing the power of positivity.  It helps you to experience ALL of your emotions, not JUST positivity - so don't think this is just a "be happy and go" situation.

HOW DO I KNOW IF I NEED A THERAPIST?

It won't take more than a session or two for us to help assess whether or not you may want to seek out clinical help.  If that's the case, we're not going to just cut you loose and brush our hands, we will help you find a counselor or therapist that you mesh with and can afford.  You're not alone, and we're not going to abandon you.  It can be a process finding a therapist, especially the RIGHT therapist.

HOW DO YOU PROTECT MY INFORMATION?

Payments are as secure as possible, so don't worry about that - it's no more risky than making any other purchase online.  As far as what we discuss, you can count on 100% confidentiality.  You're coming to me because you don't want to talk to anyone else.  What you share with me stays between us.

WILL I HAVE TO TELL MY STORY?

Of course.  That's how we get to know one another.  Getting to know how you operate, how you think, and how you perceive the world around you are all helpful in our coaching sessions.  Be as authentic as you can, and I will extend the same to you.
